Transformation is a process of change

Neuroscience  confirms that the pathways in our brains can get stuck into thinking in certain ways. It can become difficult to change beliefs about the present and assumptions about the future without external support.

Coaching enables us to look below the surface and untangle the beliefs and values that shape our reality. It enables us to see through the fog, allowing a new perspective to emerge.

TRANSFORMATION

Occurs when we gain new insights,               change our habits and way of doing things and then change course.

More about the neuroscience.....

Brains

The Mamailian or social brain stores long term memory, which we can call the stories of our lives. It is also responsible for our emotions and creativity.

The Cortical or thinking brain holds our short-term memories and is responsible for fact-based learning and analytical thinking.

The Repitilian or primitive brain trigges the "fright-fight-flight response" and controls our motor skills.

Stories

Deeply embedded stories are resistant to change.

Information doesn't often change behaviour.

Fear-based learning experiences block change.

Stories are held together by beliefs about the present and assumptions about the future.

They are related to our sense of identity, and  view of reality.

Learning

Active learning occurs when what we are told supports what we believe and we have the confidence to act.

Transformational learning comes when the protective barrier breaks down and new awareness is created.

Results

Sometimes a coach acts as a sounding board when we need to talk things through, untangle thoughts and identify options

Often, the coaching conversation goes further, enabling us to climb a tree in our minds, get a new perspective, see connections in our thinking and identify what is holding us back in order to move forward.
